getting frustrated
no sales in two days. I thought after one, people were seeing my page and I would get more. I go to Google Dashboard and I get hit but no one buys. I guess I need to do more home work on SEO stuff but I start back to work tomorrow and I have a feeling the web site will be neglected for awhile!

To Do List
So far I have been posting more about my "feelings" around the website that I have just started and have realized that it might be more beneficial to talk about what I have done thus far to start the website as well as list the specific challenges and the steps I need to take to improve.
Start Up:
Domain Name: Obviously you need a URL: site Since I recommend Easy Boutique Builder (see below) you can register a domain name through hostgator.com as well.
Web Host: I forgot how I found this website but I stumbled onto easyboutiquebuilder.com. It cost about $100 but is worth every penny. You can plug in and manage your product without knowing html code. It took me about two days to navigate and learn this site but once you get into a rhythm (uploading your pics, choosing descriptions etc), you can work pretty fast. Now Easy Boutique Builder does require that you go through hostgator.com. This is relatively cheap (about $5.00) for the hatchling package (it might be slightly more if you register you domain name with them as well.
Template: So you can set up a template through Easy Boutique Builder, however, I wanted to be unique since I sell unique products. So I found a site through Etsy.com (I think they are on Easy Boutique Builder as well) www.boutiquegraphics.com. I spent a little more money (about $225) for a template that would only be sold to me and therefore, I truly have a one of a kind look. You can also get web banners, tags, business cards etc. with your logo on it. Another bonus, they will upload your template to your Easy Boutique Builder site for you.
Keywords, Meta tags and Meta Titles: So you built this pretty shop and you think you have a great product that will start making you money. Uh no. This is where I am still working on my site and need to read more about. I have plugged in keywords from Google Adwords, I had my site evaluated (search evaluated my website and you can find free services that will "grade your site" I like www.webgrader.com) and it is STILL a work in progress. All I can say, is do not get overwhelmed and keep plugging away. The lesson I have learned. Don't expect any sales until you have really worked on your site for awhile.
Advertising: Again, I am still working on this. I have been linking to other sites (mainly handmade craft sites, creating this blog, tweeting, etc. This is another part that will never end and you have to try and not get overwhelmed. It can be easy to spend a ton of money but since I have run out of money, I am doing this on a very limited budget. Google has great tools but you will spend some money. I set a budget of $20.00 for an ad, still haven't sold one item! I site that I have found to be very useful, linkreferral.com. People actually link to your site and then give you feedback about it. again, I have received two good reviews, no sales.
So basically, this is where I am at right now. Hope this helps those just starting out and keep checking for what I learn next. Maybe I will get a sale soon :)
See ya,

Can't give up
I am a bit frustrated at the fact that I have only sold two headbands. I know this is sweat equity time and the hard work will pay off but I go back to school in a week and I know I will have less time to spend on this venture for another nine months. I know I need to pace myself and do things right the FIRST time rather than spin my wheels (something I have done many times in the past). This is also hard because learning how to get a internet business going while trying to do it can get me on information overload. Well I am going to stop in awhile to take the kids to a BBQ and for some much deserved r & r.

Work, work, work
Just spent two hours posting headbands on Shophandmade.com. Trying to get myself into every online handmade market possible with very little start up money. If the saying is true, "you need money to make money," I am in trouble. Just need to keep going.

Can't get motivated to go look for a part time job
I go back to work in a week and I just want to enjoy my last week of vacation with the kiddos before that. I really need to find something soon though. It is much more enjoyable trying to navigate my way around the new website as well as this blog and twitter. Maybe it will pay off soon.

A little overwhelmed
So I start back to school in about a week. I have spent my first summer off working on a new house, doing fun stuff with the kids and trying to get Gabby O Designs up and running. This is partially out of necessity sine I need the extra income but I find that the need for money is not a good motivator, nor does it make for smart business decisions. So, my search for a part time job will begin tomorrow.
